Their ships are luxurious with some of the finest entertainment and dining that pleases a wide array of differing tastes and ages.
When it All Began
Royal Caribbean Cruise Line established in 1968 by a total of three shipping companies located in Norway, which consisted of Gotaa Larsen, Anders Wilhelmsen & Company, and I.M. Skauge. In 1970, the first Royal Caribbean ship, the Song of Norway took its first voyage. By 1978 after growing their fleet, the Song of Norway, was the first kind of ship for passengers that was made larger by stretching it. They cut the boat in two and in the middle they added a mid-section that was 85 feet long, which meant they could increase the number of passengers by about 300, making the total capacity 1000.
Royal Caribbean Today
In 1997, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line had a name change to Royal Caribbean International to better emphasize that the cruise liner was truly international. In 1999, Royal Caribbean created its largest ship in its fleet, the Voyager of the Seas, which can hold 3114 guests.
Royal Caribbean International operates Celebrity Cruises, CDF Croisieres de France, Azamara Club, and Pullmantur. They own a total of 40 ships within the various brands that can accommodate close to 100,000 passengers. They continually seek to improve and add more enjoyment for customers while expanding the ships in their fleet.
