About Simplified Disabled Housing
Government laws and regulations have made great strides in improving the lives of disabled individuals in terms of employment options, health care and public building accessibility. However, those with disabilities are often responsible for paying customization costs for housing. Simplified Disabled Housing is a system that helps the disabled afford accessible homes.
History
Former real estate agent Aaron Lema created the Simplified Disabled Housing system. Once realizing that disabled individuals had to pay expensive customization costs in order to make new and old homes accessible, he developed the system to streamline and reduce costs for disability customizations.
Purpose
Simplified Disabled Housing allows those with disabilities to choose customizations for any new home construction. This saves the buyer money because the home does not have to be customized for accessibility after the construction process. The accessibility options are also cheaper because Simplified Disabled Housing mass produces the needed equipment.
Customizations
The Simplified Housing System provides for a number of customizations. Common custom features include lower counters, pullout cabinet shelving, shallow sinks, accessible bathroom systems, shorter mailboxes and specialized appliance placement. The system offers options for people with different disabilities and allows the buyer to choose the custom options that are right for them.
Process
Contractors and builders work directly with Simplified Housing to provide the customization service to their customers. The buyer tours a model home and then uses a color-coded system to select the customizations. The new home is built with the modifications without an additional cost to the disabled consumer.
