About Travel Insurance
When making travel arrangements, most often the items that are being purchased must be paid for in advance. Flights, hotels and cruise tickets are almost always paid for prior to your use. You can purchase travel insurance to cover any losses if your plans change.
What is Travel Insurance?
Travel insurance covers changes in your travel itinerary that could cause you financial loss. For instance, if you are unable to take a flight that you paid for because of unforeseen circumstances, travel insurance can cover your loss. Some types of travel insurance can also cover losses during your trip, such as lost or stolen baggage. There are also several different types of policies that you can purchase that fall into the category of travelers insurance, such as trip cancellation insurance, travelers health insurance and golf insurance.
How is Travel Insurance Purchased?
Travel insurance can be purchased through the company that you are travelling with or from a separate company altogether. It is preferable to buy your travel insurance through a separate company. If you buy insurance for a cruise and the cruise line goes out of business, your insurance will be void if you bought it through the same company. For your protection, consider using companies such as CSA or TravelSafe.
How Much is Travel Insurance?
The price is based on several factors, including the company that you are using and the amount and type of coverage you will be carrying. To find out how much you will spend, ask for a quote from a reputable insurance company or speak to your travel agent.
