About the International Chiropractors Association

The International Chiropractor's Association was founded in the early 1920s to represent the various health care professionals working as chiropractors. Today this association only represents one-fifth of the chiropractors because it promotes the use of non-therapeutic treatment.

  • The International Chiropractors Association (ICA) was first established in 1926 in Davenport, Iowa. It was created to represent the chiropractors, students and other teachers of our chiropractic health care. Its main goal is to outline the care of practice for the chiropractors that believe in the type of health care that they promote.

  • The first president of the International Chiropractors Association was Dr. B.J. Palmer who is credited with developing chiropractic treatment. He served for over 40 years as president of the association. However, this association is only within the United States.

  • The ICA is not the national association that most chiropractors belong to and there biggest rival is the American Chiropractors Association. The International Chiropractors Association is main up of many councils that promote the use of non-therapeutic treatment.
