Botanists can generally study plants and flowers or they can specialize in a certain area like biophysics, anatomy, cytology, genetics and ecology. Other areas of study are systematics, molecular biology and taxonomy. For those who prefer an applied science, or working directly with plants and flowers, careers in food and science technology, horticulture, natural resource management and foresetry might be a more satisfying job.
