Aluminum Siding Installation Instructions
Aluminum is used as siding on many homes because it's cheap and doesn’t require much maintenance. Installing the aluminum yourself will certainly save you a lot of money. You will need some time and a little home improvement knowledge to complete this task.
Things You'll Need:
- Tape Measure
- Ladder
- Pencil
- Paper
- Screws
- Drill
- Level
- Circular Saw
- Measure the total area you plan on siding with aluminum panels. Make sure you get accurate measurements by using a ladder to reach spots you can't while standing on the ground. You'll probably need someone to help you hold the tape measure so you can see the measurements easier. Write these measurements down so you don't forget them.
- Purchase your supplies at a local home improvement store. Take your measurements with you so an expert at the store can help you order the aluminum panels and purchase all other supplies you'll need.
- Measure and mark the spots where you want each panel to be installed. Also measure the pieces of aluminum if they didn't come pre-cut.
- Cut the pieces of aluminum with a circular saw if they didn't come pre-cut and install them with a drill and screws. Use a level to make sure they're installed straight. You probably will need another person again to help you install the panels. Make sure you allow a few inches of overhang on each panel.
- Attach trim pieces around windows after all the panels to complete the project.
