How to Repair Auto Collision Damage

Auto Collision Insurance Rights

Auto collision insurance is required on all vehicles being financed. If you don't have collision insurance you are risking not having coverage for everyday accidents. Instead of risking this, you should look in to the coverage and understand your rights under auto collision insurance. There are regulations in place that guarantee certain coverages aren't denied.

Many people are sure whether or not they have auto collision insurance. If you have standard liability automobile insurance, then you do not have collision. Having collision will cover damages caused by other drivers through no fault of your own. As an example, damage caused while your car is parked wouldn’t be covered unless you have collision insurance.

Multiple Parties

Multiple party collisions may happen if you were to get rear ended and as a result rear ended the person ahead of you. Your collision insurance will cover the repair costs for the person you hit but not for the person that hit you. You will be subject to deductibles in this particular situation.

Uninsured Drivers

While it is unlawful to drive without insurance, many people still do. If you happen to get hit by a person with no insurance you should be covered with collision insurance. This is also the case if you get hit by a person whose insurance is not able to fully cover the cost of the damage done to your vehicle. Most states have laws in place to prevent underinsured policies, but it may still happen from time to time. You will pay a deductible and the premium payments you pay may become effected.

At Fault

Should you hit another person or damage any of their property, collision insurance can help to cover this for you. While you will be held responsible for any of the excess they will cover the cost of getting their vehicle repaired as well as their property. Your payments are likely to go up and you will be paying some extra out of pocket but you will be covered.
