Best Cleaning Method for Oscillating Fans

Oscillating fans are a wonderful way to keep us cool during the hot summer months; however they can become crusted with dirt and dust. It is important to clean your oscillating fan periodically. Cleaning your oscillating fan is quick and easy once you know how.

Cleaning an Oscillating Fan

The cleaning instructions below can be used to clean both a round oscillating fan and oscillating fan towers.

1. Unplug the oscillating fan. Never clean your fan if it is still plugged into an electrical outlet.

2. Vacuum the outside grille of the fan using the soft bristle brush attachment.

3. Remove the protective grille covering from the fan by unscrewing or removing the fastener clips.

4. Remove the blade cap from the fan and slide off the oscillating fan's blades.

5. Wipe the blades clean with a damp cloth. If the fan blades are extremely dirty, you may soak them in soapy water to loosen the dirt, then wipe clean.

6. Dry the fan blades completely to avoid electrical shock.

7. Replace the fan blades, the blade cap and attach the grille.
