Best Interior Paint Reviews
Painting a house is a huge undertaking for someone. The price of paint and the plethora of brands available can be confusing to an inexperienced painter. Does price really matter? No, it does not. There are some affordable paints for those on a budget that perform as well as those that are more expensive.
Benjamin Moore Aura
Experts recommend this paint due to its ability to dry fast and cover with one coat. While the paint is expensive, the coverage it provides allows you to use half the paint of other paints. However, many professional painters do use two coats for a better finish. It also has a low-volatile compound, which is why other paints smell so strongly.
It rated in eight categories on Consumer Reports, including being fade-resistant and scrubbable. It is also mildew-resistant.
It is rather expensive and can be difficult for inexperienced painters to use because of its ability to dry quickly. It costs about $55 per gallon.
Benjamin Moore Regal
This paint is one step down from the Aura paint by Benjamin Moore. It is highly recommended by professionals. It comes in many different finishes: flat, semigloss, matte, eggshell and pearl. It covers very well with just two coats.
It does not cover in one coat, dry as fast as Aura or is a low VOC paint.
It is fade-resistant and holds up to being scrubbed. It rates high with many different consumer groups as being a great mid-range priced paint. One gallon averages about $40.
Benjamin Moore Natura
This zero VOC paint offers the same VOC rating in all 3,000 colors, whereas others don't when tinted.
It is mildew-resistant, scrubbable and stain resistant.
There are a few cons: the semigloss finish loses its sheen after a time and fades when scrubbed.
The cost is about $55 per gallon.
Ace Royal
For a lower costing paint, this compares very well to higher priced paint. It does perform better than some higher priced paints. It is not a low VOC paint.
It does get high ratings for its ease of application and srubbability. It is available in semigloss, satin, flat and eggshell finishes.
It costs about $20 per gallon.
