Vinegar

Vinegar is a great alternative to commercial cleaners that will clean your windows just as well for a fraction of the price. Simply mix a half-cup of vinegar with a gallon of water to create your cleaning solution. Fill a standard spray bottle with this cleaning solution and apply to the windows as needed.

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice has the natural ability to break through tough grease and grime with the power of citrus. You do not need much to make a powerful cleaning solution that will clean even the dirtiest of windows. Simply fill your spray bottle with water, and then add one teaspoon of lemon juice to the water. Shake well, and apply as needed.

Murphy's Oil Soap

If you need to remove remaining water spots, Murphy’s Oil Soap is a great option that will remove the water spots on your windows easily. Do not mix with water. Simply apply directly to a clean, dry rag and rub on the affected part of the window in a circular motion until the water spots are removed.

Dish Soap

Mild dish detergent is often enough cleaning power to clean your household windows. Fill your spray bottle with water and add a teaspoon of dish soap to the mixture. Tighten the lid, and shake thoroughly to mix the detergent in with your water before applying to your windows.

Commercial Cleaners

There are many commercial cleaners on the market that are made to clean windows. Choose your favorite window cleaning product from your local general merchandise store. Newspaper

Newspaper is a great way to dry your windows quickly and easily to a sparkling streak-free finish. Simply crumble the newspaper first, and then open up and proceed to dry as you would with a towel. Newspaper will not leave lint on your windows as some towels or paper towels often do.
