Best Way to Remove Dead Sheath from Banana Trees
The banana trees look great in your yard and you obviously love the fruit from the trees. Sometimes, though, the dead sheath can make the trees look bad and produce less fruit. You need to remove this sheath for the appearance and the health of your banana trees.
Pull or tear the sheath off the tree trunk. Be careful to tear only the dead portions of the sheath off. If you tear off live sections, you could damage the health and growth of the tree.
Cut the sheath with scissors or a knife. This may be easier than pulling off the dead sheath, but you still need to be careful not to cut too deep or too much off. Cutting too much can actually kill the tree.
Use a cane knife to chop off the dead sheath. Remember to always cut in an upward fashion as cutting downward can fray the ends of the sheath and allow diseases to enter the tree.
