Biodiesel Production Disadvantages
Whether you stay up to date with political discussions or not it is possible that you have heard about the possibility of using biodiesel. This fuel is looked at as a possible alternative to cruel oil. However with advantages come disadvantages that could outweigh the good in all of this.
- Water use is necessary in the production of biodiesel. As you may know several locations known for agricultural production have severed due to drought and severely high temperatures. By using such a massive quantity of water to create biodiesel the process could not only hinder the production of agricultural products it could literally halt it all together.
- CO2 emissions are one of the primary reasons for wanting to find an alternative energy and fuel product. A major disadvantage to the process required to create supplies of biodiesel is that as products grow that are used to create this fuel CO2 emissions occur naturally. When these fuel products are burned when used they also release the same amount of CO2 emissions.
- The production of products used to create biodiesel requires land. This would require one of two things. In order to produce these products organizations creating the biodiesel would have to either destroy more woodlands to clear land or take over land that is already used for production of agricultural products. So basically these organizations will take over land that farmers are already using to produce food products to make space to create these fuels. Or these organizations will clear off more woodlands in areas where it is possible to grow products needed for biodiesel productions. By clearing off even more woodlands not only would these organizations destroy more trees and plants that produce oxygen but also destroy habitats in which wildlife call home.
