Boxing Training and Tips

When it comes to the sport of boxing, there is one simple goal: to knock out your opponent to win the match. In order to achieve this, you must have the endurance, agility and above all else, an unbreakable concentration.

Many boxers lose focus of where to look while fighting. The only place where you should have your focus is forward. That is the only direction your head should face. You need to focus on the opponent's face and upper body rather than their movements, which is a common mistake. For example, when your opponent jabs, do not pay attention to the jab; concentrate on the available opportunity to jab them back. Also, when you look for openings, you are looking where you want to punch. This enables you to also protect yourself from your opponent’s moves, as well as where you can strike him because you are taking advantage of the opening.

Tip for the Eye

Think of boxing as driving. Everything around you is merely a distraction. Like a good driver never takes his eyes off of the road in front of him, a good boxer never takes his eyes off of his opponent.

Pace Yourself

Everyone has a different pace. Train at whatever pace you are most comfortable. When you are at your resting pace, you should never stop completely. This allows fighting even when exhausted. Your max pace is fighting with 100 percent intensity. Increasing your resting pace will also increase your max pace.
