CME Programs for a Physician Assistant

A physician assistant receives two years of post graduate training and performs under the supervision of a physician. A physician assistant conducts exams, treats illnesses, orders and interprets tests and assists in surgery. Continuing medical education courses are required to maintain a license and to stay current in the ever-changing medical industry. The following courses are available for a physician assistant to meet the continuing medical education requirements.

CD and MP3 Format Continuing Education Programs

There are seminar institutes that offer programs in CD and MP3 format for the busy physician assistant to complete anywhere and anytime. The completed pretest and post-test are evaluated by the company and a paper verifying completion is sent to the individual. These courses generally qualify for two category-one credits. Subjects include adult tracheal intubation, anesthesia complications, vascular concerns, acute pain and many other optional titles. These courses are updated regularly to comply with the most recent medical standards and advances.

Medical Seminars

Continuing education credits are available for physician assistants through various medical seminars. Seminars are often available at exotic locations or at exclusive resorts. Physician assistants can visit with medical vendors that display products and technology in the exhibit hall at most seminars. The vendors are a wealthy source of knowledge concerning particular healthcare products and are glad to share the information.

The ultimate seminars may be found aboard a luxury cruise ship. Sleep disorders, metabolic syndrome, emergency medicine and primary care for cardiac patients are just a few of the seminars offered at sea. Many of these seminars offer up to 14 credits for each seminar attended. Course fees run approximately $450 per course plus cruise fees.
