Cheap Window Decorating Ideas

Decorating windows in your home can be expensive, especially if you have a number of windows that you want to add elements to.  To save money on window treatments, make sure that you look at your options carefully and make any decorations that you are able to.

• Consider making a curtain rod at home to save money on expensive curtain rods that can be purchased at the store.  Use an old wooden broom handle or large dowel rod to hang curtains on.  Sand the wood down before you use it to make sure that it is smooth and in good condition to be able to hang curtains.


• Make your own curtains instead of buying them.  Fabric can be found at your local fabric store to sew curtains in the material that you like best.  Make sure that you measure the area where you wish to hang your curtains before you purchase material though so that you know how much material you will need.  For best results use a sewing machine to sew curtains to be placed on your windows.


• Look at blinds or shades to add to your windows to add inexpensive decoration.  These items come in many different colors and styles allowing you to choose what you like best for your windows.  Add valences to windows with blinds to further dress up the area and add more decoration.


• Purchase frosting for windows in your home where you want to add decoration and privacy.  Frosting can be purchased cheaply from home improvement stores in spray or sheets to be adhered to windows.  This is a good option for covering windows while also allowing sunlight to shine through into your home.
