Checklist for Buying the Perfect Used Travel Trailers
There are many things to consider when looking for a used travel trailer. A checklist will help you identify the most important qualities in the type of used travel trailer you are looking for. It will also help you remember to look for certain qualities.
- It is important to check the tires to ensure they have proper tread and air so you can drive the used travel trailer home.
- The taillights are also important to check. When checking the taillights, be sure to check the left and right turn signals as well as the brake and hazard lights. Check the lights on the inside and all the switches to ensure they work. Having lights in the inside of the trailer that do not work could an electrical problem or it could just be a need for new bulbs.
- Check the interior for mold or mildew so it wont cause lung problems and other severe health issues. Mold and mildew can come from a leaking roof or from water damage, be sure to ask if you see any.
- Check the propane tank to make sure there are no leaks and it is not expired. The stove and heat of the used travel trailer are going to run off of this propane tank so knowing that it is in good working order ensures that it will not blow up or leak while in use.
- Check all the locks on the storage areas to make sure they work and you have the proper keys for them all.
- Make sure that the windows and doors lock and that they all have good seals. Allowing moisture or water into the travel trailer can create mold or mildew issues as well as causing other things like making the walls damp from moisture.
