Choosing a Wedding Reception Venue

When choosing a wedding reception venue you will need to consider many different things. This is the most important day of your life together and you will want everything to be perfect. Your wedding venue is one of the most important choices for your wedding day. If you know the right questions to ask it will make your decision on which wedding reception venue to choose.

  • Determine your budget - Depending on your budget, you will have to make your choices around your prices. If you have a limited budget, you will have to keep your budget in mind when picking your venue. Keep in mind that some wedding venues are more open to discussing price and you may be able to talk them down on price.

  • Determine what is included - Depending on what is included with the purchase of the venue you can increase your venue budget. If your venue includes many necessary items that are not included in a cheaper wedding venue rental you can afford to spend a little more money for the venue. Tables, chairs and the use of a dance floor are all optional features that will cost you more to rent if you choose a venue that does not include such items. Finding out what is included in the base rental price is very important when deciding which wedding reception venue to book for your special day.

  • Incorporate your scheme - Depending on what your decorating scheme is you will want to choose a venue that will match that style. For example, if you are having a more modern wedding you do not want to choose a traditional banquet hall. Incorporate your color scheme if possible. If you are having a gold color scheme for your wedding, and you find a venue that is already accented with gold, it will cut down on your decorating cost.

  • Catering - Most wedding venues will not allow you to choose your own caterer. If you have your heart set on a certain person or caterer making the dinner for your wedding you will need to look for a venue that will allow this. Most venues offer catering service and force you to use their service for your wedding reception.

  • Event insurance - You will want to ask each potential venue if they offer event insurance for the rental period. Many wedding reception venues will offer this as part of the standard rental. If your dream venue does not include this you will need to add this cost into your budget.
