Christmas Art Activities for Teachers
Christmas is an exciting time of year for schoolchildren. In the days leading up to the Christmas holiday, students will be eager to take part in arts and crafts projects with holiday themes. There are a variety of Christmas art activities for teachers to use in the classroom to celebrate the holiday.
Wood ornaments
Teachers can have their students paint simple wood ornaments as a Christmas art activity. Wood ornaments come in a variety of shapes such as stars, candy canes or bells. Schools can purchase ornaments at a relatively low price online or in craft stores. Students can use acrylic paint to decorate both sides of the ornaments. Students can also use glue and loose glitter to add some sparkle to their ornaments. Students can either take the ornaments home or add them to the classroom Christmas tree.
Paper snowflakes
Paper snowflakes are a classic and easy Christmas art activity for students. The only items needed are paper and scissors. Teachers can have students make multiple unique snowflakes and hang them with string from the ceiling so that the classroom becomes a winter wonderland.
Cotton ball snowmen
Cotton ball snowmen are another easy Christmas art project for students. Students can make these by drawing the outline of snowmen on construction paper and gluing cotton balls inside to make their snowmen three-dimensional. Students can cut other shapes, such as scarves and hats, out of construction paper and glue them to the snowmen to add detail.
Handprint wreaths
Students can make Christmas wreaths using construction paper and scissors. To make these wreaths, students simply need to trace the outline of one hand on the construction paper as many times as it will fit. They may need to use several pieces of construction paper. After the students cut out the handprints, they can glue them together in a circle shape to make a wreath.
