Classroom Activities on History of Transportation
Inspiring classrooms with new activities in school can help the days be so much more interesting. The History of Transportation involves imagination, creativity and learning experiences of math, science, art and history. Activities may be drawing, watching movies, word problems, coloring, connect the dots, make models, library visits, computer work and reading.
Reading
No matter what age you are reading with can be interesting. Usually involving the class in the choice of story or book will help. Different ways could include going to the library, having a different reader each time a new transportation is being taught; maybe teacher, principal, student or family member. Younger classes enjoy being read to. Older students could choose their favorite form of transportation, write a short story and another classmate read it.
Movies
Watching movies is a nice learning activity. This helps a class to have a different type of day. From the beginning of the History of Transportation involving walking, the wheel, mules, horse, buggy to all we have presently with planes, trains and race cars, just to mention a few. Movies can be seen whether they are remakes of the long ago past up to today’s transportation. Depending on the ages of the students, the classroom could even be involved in a project making the room a movie theater.
Art, Drawing or Coloring
Imagination and creativity for any age can be interesting, whether singular, in groups or whole classrooms. Younger students can begin by coloring simple pictures that their teacher makes copies of, connect the dots and possibly color also, bringing in a hot air balloon for each student to learn about, give a name, then take outside and let go. The teachers could put the names of many different types of transportation in a box, each student will choose one, they will be given time to do research and complete their project and all finished work will be made into a mural.
