Coolest Homemade Costumes

The coolest handmade costumes are tons of fun. Many things you can find right in your home and wardrobe. Be a scary zombie, a mechanical robot or a tasty bunch of grapes. With a little work and some creativity, your costume will be quite the hit.

Bunch of Grapes

This simple, fun and fruity costume is a synch to make. For purple grapes, wear a purple shirt with purple balloons attached. Use a hot glue gun to attach the bottom tie of the balloon. Be careful not to pop them with the heat. Use a green shirt and green balloons for green grapes. Wear green pants and create a leaf hat out of green felt with a couple twirled of viney green pipe cleaners for an added touch.

Robot

Spray paint boxes for the body suit and accessories with silver. Use large variegated piping for movable arms and legs. Create a boxy silver helmet with a smaller silver spray-painted box as a headpiece or wear silver headband antenna. Imitate your favorite movie robots or be creative and design your own.

Zombie

Start right in your own closet to create a scary zombie costume. Take some old clothing and tear it up. Highlight the tears with fake blood and dirt. Use white and green face paint on your face, neck and any skin that is showing. Add fake scars, cuts and blood for the full effect. Find an ugly teeth accessory. Mess up your hair and add some dirty, bloody chunks to your unkempt hair. Limp around with hanging arms for the full effect.
