Criminal Justice Programs for High Schools

High school criminal justice programs are designed in an effort to prepare high school students for entry into the field. Specifically, high school graduates who participate in the criminal justice program at their schools are prepared for entry immediately after graduation if they wish to do so. Others are able to continue their education within the field for advanced job placement when the time comes.

Criminal Justice and Law

One high school program you will be able to find is the Criminal Justice and Law Program. This specific program provides students with the skills and education needed to have an in-depth understanding of the legal system. If you are a high school student that is interested in becoming an attorney, there is a pre-law option for you to participate in. Some of the topics you will cover include criminal investigation, business law and criminal procedure.

Public Safety

The Public Safety program is another option within some of the high schools across the nation. These types of programs are generally offered through a partnership with a security company, such as Brinks, or it can also be partnered with the local police stations or fire departments. Whether you are interested in fire safety or law enforcement, there is an area within this program where you can focus on.

The Academy

The Criminal Justice Academy is another program, and is set up as a magnet program in a vocational high school. This option is very specific to the trade and prepares students with in-depth training and education on the field in general and for law enforcement. You will participate in mock courtrooms and will cover topics that include constitutional law and an overview of the criminal justice system.
