How to Make Homemade Cupcake Liners

DIY Cupcake Liners

Making your own cupcake liners can save you money over purchasing commercial cupcake liners from the store.  You can easily make your own cupcake liners using parchment paper and scissors. These homemade liners will produce the same results at a fraction of the cost.

  1. Have parchment paper handy in your pantry. One roll should be more than enough to create dozens of cupcake liners.

  2. Unroll approximately two feet of parchment paper, and detach from the roll using the perforated edge cutter that is provided on the box that your parchment paper came in.

  3. Place a CD or other round object that is about the same size into the corner of your piece of parchment paper, and use a pencil to trace the circular design onto the paper.

  4. Move over about a half-inch and repeat the process of placing your CD onto the paper and tracing the shape with a pencil.

  5. Continue doing this until you have traced as many circles onto the paper as you can fit. Place them as close together as you can so that you are not unnecessarily wasting your supplies.

  6. Cut out your cupcake liners using standard household scissors until all of the liners have been cut.

  7. Stack your cupcake liners in a pile leaving them flattened out until you are ready to use them.

  8. Spray your muffin cups with nonstick cooking spray before placing your liners into the muffin cups.

  9. Place the homemade muffin cup liners into the cup opening, paying attention that they are centered and then apply slight pressure to place them down into the cup.

  10. Be sure that they are securely pushed up against the edge of the muffin cups so that your cupcake or muffin bakes in the desired shape.
