DIY Garage Makeover
The garage is an often overlooked part of a home. But with a little bit of time and work, it can be a useful place to park the cars, provide extra storage and give you a place to use your tools.
- Organize your garage. Having a clean garage can make a huge difference in how it looks. Go through all of the stuff that you have stored there and throw or give away things that you never use. If you have a number of quality items you no longer want or need, consider having a yard sale or placing items with a consignment shop.
- Add shelving and storage. There are many different shelving units available that are made for garages. These shelves hang high on the wall and can hold a lot of different items. Stand up cabinets are also available for the garage. They can reach to the ceiling and make an excellent place to store things.
- Redo the floor. Garage floors can become dirty and grimy. Apply an epoxy floor sealant can improve the look of your garage. Putting down an epoxy floor is an easy project that can be done over the weekend. The sealant comes in a variety of colors and repels liquids that may leak from your vehicle.
- Make a workroom. If you have a large garage and you enjoy using tools and making things, consider dedicating part of your garage to being a work area. Organize your tools and have a large table. If you plan on spending a lot of time in this space, you may also want to install a portable heating or air conditioning unit.
