DIY Garage Organization Systems
If your garage has become cluttered with items that nobody uses, it is time to go through all of that stuff and organize your garage so that you can properly use the space. It may seem like a large task, but you can easily organize your garage in no time.
- The first thing that you need to do before you can begin organizing the garage is to go through all of the stuff that has accumulated in the space over time. Make piles while going through the stuff of what goes in the house, what stays in the garage, and what you would like to get rid of. This will make the sorting process easier.
- Add plywood to the rafters of your garage to add extra storage space for items that you are not going to need to access often. Large items such as holiday decorations are a great thing to store in the rafters.
- Place hooks in the ceiling or walls of your garage for items that are used frequently. This will allow you to store tools or other items in view so that you can easily find them when you need them.
- Shelving units are a great addition to any garage to prevent clutter. You can place items in smaller bins and then place them on the shelves inside the shelving unit for easy access. You should label each bin that you use so that you can easily determine where the item you are looking for are located.
- Bikes are commonly stored in the garage and can take up a lot of space. Use special hooks that are designed to hold your bikes, and install them in the ceiling of your garage. Placing your bikes on storage hooks when not in use takes advantage of vertical space and will give you more open space in the garage to work.
