DIY Garage Storage
If your garage has become the catch-all space for everything your family doesn't know what to do with, you are not alone. A garage commonly becomes cluttered over time with stuff that is not used often. You can easily have your garage looking clean and organized in no time with a little bit of work.
- Go through all of the stuff in your garage and get rid of the items that you do not use. You need to see the items that belong in your garage, so that you can decide on the best way to properly store them.
- Hang up peg board for tools and other small items that you use frequently. Peg boards are easy to install, and can accommodate many items. If you plan to store heavy items such as tools, be sure that you purchase heavy duty pegs that can withstand the weight of the items you are going to be storing on the peg board.
- Use your vertical space to your advantage when storing items that you do not need to access often. You can place plywood into the rafters of the garage for extra vertical storage, as well as heavy duty hooks in the ceiling to hang things on as well.
- If you have a lot of tools to store, you should use a large toolbox with multiple drawers to organize them and make things easier to find. Add labels to the front of the drawers so that you can easily determine what is inside.
- Bicycle hooks are a great way to store your family's bikes when they are not in use. Bikes are commonly stored in the garage and can take up a lot of floor space. These specially designed hooks will properly suspend the bikes from the ceiling when they are not being used.
