Having beautiful healthy nails can really change the way someone feels about themselves. Men and women are now choosing to properly maintain their nails so that they can have a clean, finished look at all times. If someone is choosing to do maintenance on their nails there are a few things they will need to get before they begin.
Nail Clippers
- Should be sharp
- Should be easy to handle
- Should be used to trim nails to a reasonable length. Men should have their nails less than a quarter of an inch from the tip of their finger.
Cuticle Oil
- Softens the cuticle so that it can be easily pushed back
- Is greasy and can stain so it is important to be careful with the oil
- Should be applied to the entire nail with focus on the cuticle
Cuticle Stick
- Used to push the cuticle back away from the nail
- Should be used with firm, even strokes
- May be a bit uncomfortable but is a needed step
Nail File
- Used to shape the nail tip
- Rougher side is designed to be used on places where the nails need more shaping
- Smoother side is designed to be a finisher and give the edge of the nails a smooth edge
Nail Brush
- Used to scrub the top and underside of the nail
- A mild soap and water should be used to scrub the nails
- All dirt should be removed from the nails before paint is applied to the nail so that the paint will stay on the nails for an extended period of time.
Nail Buffer
- Used to buff the nail
- Helps to make nails shine
- Should be used before polish is applied
Nail Polish
- Clear can be used on men and women to give the nails a classic, finished look
- Comes in a variety of colors
- Two coats of one color should be applied for added durability
- A clear top coat can be added to give nails added shine
