DIY Pest Control With Mothballs
Mothballs can be a cheap and budget friendly tool to help rid your house of unwanted pests. Despite their name, they are effective at repelling other pests besides moths. The main complaint about mothballs is that they have an unpleasant odor, so many people do not like to use them around their house.
- Use them to repel rodents. A few moth balls in an old dish can help keep mice out of your home. Place the dish in the places you have seen the mice. The mice do not like the smell and will keep away from area. Since the mothball odor can be unpleasant, only use a few mothballs and leave them out just until the pests have left.
- Use them to kill fleas. At the first sign of fleas, place a few moth balls in the vacuum bag. Vacuum the carpet and use hand tools to vacuum any furniture that might be near the fleas. Immediately replace the vacuum bag after cleaning. The mothball odor kills fleas inside the vacuum bag, and this method does not release mothball odor into your house.
- Use mothballs to repel snakes. Snakes seem to get confused when mothballs are presented to them and will keep moving instead of staying in the place with the mothballs. Several containers of mothballs under your house will help keep snakes at bay.
- Use mothballs to rid your attic of bats. Place several mothballs in nylon stockings and hang the stockings around the attic. Bats do not like the smell of mothballs and will not return to your attic.
