DIY Pest Control
Insects and bugs are always looking for new homes to invade. Pest control services can get a little pricey, and many times you can eliminate these pests yourself. With the right products, insects can be taken care of quickly and painlessly.
- For the most common pests such as cockroaches and ants, do-it-yourself pest control should be fairly easy. Some pests are more difficult to eliminate, such as bed bugs and termites.
- Make sure to seal up any entrances. Go around your home and use caulk or foam on any openings. Insects are able to squeeze in tiny spaces, so you want to make sure you fill any cracks.
- Terro offers a liquid ant bait that is very effective. It used to be that you would have to put the drops on the cards yourself. That is no longer the case. You can now buy them pre-filled, and they are very cost effective. Within two days, you will see results.
- For roaches, you will want to use a roach gel. These gels are effective against all types of roaches. Make sure not to use any powders or other types of baits while using this. It can contaminate the gel, making it less effective. The gels do dry out quickly, so it's best to use on a little piece of cardboard that can be thrown away.
- Spiders take more work to eliminate. If you have a severe problem, you will want to fog your house. Make sure to use foggers specifically for spiders. Fog once a week until the problem is gone. You can also put down sticky traps underneath your beds and furniture to help catch them. Eugenol oil is great to spray around the house, but it will only work directly on the spider.
- Fleas can be a big problem for any homeowner, even for ones without a pet. Fog your house once per week until your problem is gone.
