Detail Your Own Car Interior
Detailing the inside of your car at a professional shop can be expensive. If you invest a little bit of time and energy, you can detail your car yourself in no time, and save the cost of hiring someone to do it for you. All you will need is a few supplies to get the job done, and you'll have your car looking like new in no time.
- Remove any garbage that is in your car as well as any items that do not belong in your car that need to go in the house. Place garbage into one bag, and the items that go into your house in another.
- Inspect underneath of your seats, inside of doors, or any other storage spaces in your car to ensure there is no garbage or other unwanted items that you are missing.
- Remove the floor mats of your car and shake off all of the dirt and debris that will come off. Lay them out flat in the grass so that you can vacuum them later.
- Vacuum out your car working your way from the front to the back. It is best to do areas such as dashboards and seats first so that if anything falls during cleaning, it can be vacuumed up later when you get to the floors. Continue until the entire interior in your car is vacuumed.
- Vacuum your floor mats and set aside somewhere where they will not pick up any dirt or debris while you shampoo your interior carpets.
- Shampoo the interior of your car such as seats and floors as needed, using a handheld unit from a steam cleaner, or soap, water and a scrub brush. If you use soap and water, you will want to be sure to suck up any remaining water from your carpets using a shop vac.
- Allow the interior to dry with proper ventilation so that it does not start to smell. Leave the car doors open to allow the carpets to ventilate properly, this will help the to dry faster as well.
- Use a vinyl and leather cleaning product such as Armor All on your seats and dash. Use a clean, dry rag to apply the Armor All. This will make your car shine like new.
- Replace the car mats into the car. You want to make sure that the interior carpet is allowed to dry thoroughly before replacing the floor mats.
- Hang an air freshener in your car, or you can also use the air freshener packets that slip under your seat if you prefer.
