Enrollment Process for a Private School

Parents should research several schools in their area before deciding on a private school. You want to plan in advance because some private schools have waiting lists. The enrollment process for a private school can take time and goes smoother when knowing what to expect.

Most private schools are advanced in technology and have a school website. You can begin the enrollment process by visiting the school’s website and completing an inquiry form. Another option is contacting the admission office. After completing the inquiry form, the school will send informational material and a viewbook. Parents and students can benefit from attending an open house to learn more about the school.

An open house will include a campus tour, a chance to meet the faculty, current students and parents and a presentation from the Head of School. After a school visit, the next step is submitting an application, student questionnaire and parent questionnaire. You want to schedule a time for your child to visit on a school day. Visiting students will have the opportunity to attend classes for a half-day and to attend classes with current students.

Most schools have admission requirements to become a student. The requirements are a completed admission application, school entrance exam, transcript, interviews for both parents and students and recommendations from principal and teachers. There is also a deadline for admissions and priority will be given to early applicants. The admission's committee will make the final decision on the student being admitted to the school.
