Equipment Needed at Boarding Kennels
Simply being a dog lover isn't enough to get started in a boarding kennel business. First consider the equipment costs associated with opening a boarding kennel. Once you know all the equipment you need to start a kennel, then you can see whether you have enough money to get started.
Boarding Kennel Equipment Overview
Think about what every dog needs to feel safe and comfortable in your kennel. Each dog will need a kennel space to sleep in, as well as a pen that is attached to it so that it can get some exercise. It is therefore essential that you have enough space for each individual dog, as customers will not want to leave theirs pet with you if they feel their dogs will be cramped in the space you provide. Each dog kennel must be waterproof and weatherproof, and it should be easy to clean as well. If it is not easy to clean, it will likely not get clean, and this will contribute to odor and a general disheveled appearance, which will not be attractive to prospective customers. You should also have a supply of toys on hand to keep dogs entertained, although sometimes owners will bring their own toys with them.
