Equipment Needed for Changing Oil
Many people prefer to change the oil in their car rather than using the services of a professional mechanic. It is a great way to save money if you are on a budget. If this is something that you would like to do, there is some equipment needed for changing oil.
Equipment Needed for Changing Oil
Oil Filter Wrench: Needed to remove the old oil filter.
Ratchet and Socket Set: Used to loosen bolts.
A Reliable Jack and Jack Stands: Used to lift and support the car. Never attempt to use the jack alone, due to the fact that the jack might collapse while you are beneath the car. It is always recommended to use the jack stands for extra safety precautions.
New Oil Filter: Used to replace the old oil filter.
5 to 8 Quarts of Oil: Consult your owners manual to see what type of oil is recommended for your vehicle.
Plastic Oil Pan: Use to collect the old oil that is drained from the vehicle.
Oil Funnel: Use to pour new oil into the vehicle.
All of the above items can be purchased at any automotive parts store, such as O'Reilley Auto Parts or Pepboys.
