Essentials to Fundraising Management

Raising money takes a great deal of time and effort. It is essential that a person or team manages the fundraising efforts properly in order to ensure success. The management of a fundraising activity can mean success or failure for a group’s ability to earn money. Here are some of the essentials to fundraising management:

Organization - This is an absolute essential to fundraising success. Someone should be in charge of organizing the activity. The volunteers should be organized so everyone has a specific job to do. The money needs to be organized in order to make sure every dollar possible is earned.

Volunteers - In order to raise money, a group or organization will need volunteers. It is virtually impossible to raise money by paying people to do a job. Volunteers can earn credit for their services, but they are necessary to make an activity run smoothly. The more volunteers a group has for an event, the better the overall event will be. More volunteers means less work for everyone.

Accounting Skills - Someone within the organization must be able to count, tally and keep track of the money that is being earned. There must be receipts for items purchased for the fundraising activity and then there must be a final tally of the amount of money earned in a fundraising event. Whether the event earns $100 or $100 million, accounting skills are essential.

An Activity - If an organization wants to earn money, they must have a plan or an activity to earn this money. Activities might include a car wash, trivia night, BBQ, auction or product sales. Having a way to earn money is an important factor to the success of any group or organization. Most groups will organize several fundraising activities throughout the year.
