Facts About Getting Roadside Help With AAA

The American Automobile Association, also known as AAA, has been providing roadside assistance to over 51 million members since 1902. AAA is headquartered in Florida and does not only provide roadside assistance; this company is also known for great member discounts, travel services and auto and home insurance.

AAA has offices worldwide and call centers worldwide that work 24/7 to assist their members with roadside assistance at their time of need.

Becoming a member

To receive roadside assistance from AAA you must be a member. There are times when AAA will provide assistance to non-members especially around the holiday season when designated drivers are needed. To become a member you will need to go to your local AAA office, provide your information and pay for a yearly membership into the auto club. You will be provided a temporary membership card that can be used until your actual card is received. Most clubs require a 24-hour waiting period before the membership can be used. You will be provided with information about your membership benefits.

Using your membership

Once your membership is active you can use it to obtain emergency roadside service. AAA will dispatch a truck to your location that will be able to provide towing of your vehicle, battery jumps, tire changes and even bring out gas to your location. In the unfortunate event that your vehicle does require towing your membership will provide you with a certain amount of miles that will be covered, if you go over your mileage you will be required to pay the overage fee directly to the tow truck driver.
