Facts Against Paranormal Discoveries
Whenever a paranormal discovery hits the news, people tune in. We all crave a little bit of the unknown and like to explore the unexplained. Science says there are no paranormal mysteries in the world. Certain facts would add proof to this belief and despite paranormal claims, true evidence has never been shown.
Interest in the paranormal grows higher every year, whether it is to prove or disprove its existence. The paranormal refers to ghosts, spirits, werewolves, vampires, etc. Despite attempts of ghost hunters, scientists still doubt the presence of anything paranormal.
Hoaxes
Unfortunately, most paranormal discoveries are hoaxes. Several years ago, some men from the South claimed to have Bigfoot. The men instantly made national headlines. Everyone was talking about it, and they were in negotiations for DNA testing. Several days later the world found out that the story was phony. As far as the public knows, there has never been a verified paranormal body found. Without any kind of proof scientists state that there simply isn't anything paranormal in this world.
Thermometers
Some popular shows use handheld machines called thermal cameras or thermometers to check the temperatures around them. This stems from the belief that ghosts cause a "cold spot" when they come around. Paranormal researchers say that they are able to identify these cold spots with their thermometers. Temperature fluctuations are common in every household, and can be caused from an air conditioner vent, fan, or even the open refrigerator door. These machines are even more unreliable in a basement or other drafty locations.
Haunted Houses
Turn on the tv, and you will might find a story about people purchasing a home and realizing that it is haunted. The houses are almost always older homes, many with a long history. Usually the owner will report feeling cold drafts, items being moved, doors opening, and creaking or footsteps. These are not uncommon in an older home. Houses settle, causing a creaking noise. Gas lines can also make unusual noises. Cold drafts are very common, especially in spacious homes over 50 years old. If there are a lot of drafts, older doors that don't shut well will seem to open or close on their own. Uneven flooring can affect this as well.
Although many hope for a paranormal discovery, the facts don't support it. For the paranormal to be realized in today's world, society would need undisputed proof of its existence. Many researchers are devoting their lives and careers to finding this proof. Only time will tell if they will be successful in their endeavors.
