Best Way to Establish Auto Services

Facts to Consider Before Calling an Auto Services

Calling an auto service can be a good way to help you out when you're in a pinch. Auto services can offer tows when you're broken down on the road, help with minor repairs and help you find a local mechanic. However, there are several things you need to be aware of.

Calling an auto service can help you when your vehicle has decided it has other plans. Being stuck on the side of the road is a scary situation, and finding a reliable mechanic can be difficult. Before you set up a plan or call for auto services there are a few things you should know.

Short Distance Towing

Most auto services will only tow you a short distance or to the nearest authorized repair shop. This means if you have a preferred mechanic you may find yourself paying out of pocket for a portion of the tow. Some services will offer 10 miles for free and charge a discounted rate over that amount.

Roadside Repairs

Roadside repairs are a great way to get going again, but they aren't meant to be long term fixes. For instance, an auto service may jump a dead battery but they probably won't replace it. Many times an auto service won't know if a roadside repair is available so the driver will check out the vehicle and decide. If a temporary fix is feasible they may not pay for a tow, so be prepared to have to wait for a few hours while the repair is made.

Leaving your Car

Most auto services will require that you stay with the car until the tow truck arrives. It can take a few hours for a truck to get to you depending on where you are and how busy the service is. Some drivers will be able to take you to the shop your car is being taken to, and others have a policy against letting people ride along. Calling for another ride is always a good idea.
