Find the Best Colors for Paints

It can be difficult to choose the best color of paint for your needs.  After all, there are lots of different colors available.  Of course, you want to choose the right color so that you wont have to repaint again.  Fortunately, with a little know-how it is actually easy to ensure that you do choose the right color the first time.

• Visualize the way that you want the room to look before you ever do anything.


• Keep in mind that dark colors will significantly shrink the room so you want to opt for a soft palate.


• Whenever you go to a paint or hardware store take home paint swatches that you like.  Hold it up to your walls and your home’s accessories to make sure that it has a blend of colors that match your home’s décor.  It is also a good idea to find a piece of your clothing that is of the same color and hold it up to the wall as it will give you a better idea since it will cover more space than a paint swatch.


• Consider taking a swatch of cloth or a pillow from your couch when you go to look at paint colors.  Most stores don’t mind a bit.  This will help you to choose a color that will coordinate well with the room.


• Purchase a large piece of poster board or cut out a big piece of cardboard and paint the entire area with the paint color you like best.  Allow it to dry for several hours and then hold it up to your walls and accessories.  This allows you to see what the final paint color looks like.
