Foam Winter Crafts
Wintertime is a perfect season for making crafts with foam. Great for use in home schooling, church activities or in school, there are many different types of foam crafts. Choose a project by age or difficulty level to make sure your participants are having a good time.
Foam Snowman
A project that should be done by older kids or adults is the light bulb foam snowman. Push the socket end of a used light bulb into a foam ball. Paint the entire project white and then paint on eyes, nose and mouth. Felt can be used for a scarf and hat.
Foam Mittens
Making foam mittens is acceptable for younger and inexperienced crafters. This is especially true of the mitten shapes, precut from foam sheets. Use school glue and strips of ribbon to connect two foam mittens together. They can also be designed with snowflakes or candy canes using paint or markers.
Foam Star
White or silver sheets of fun foam can be cut into star shapes and decorated with metallic paint. Metallic twine or ribbon glued to the top makes it hang. This project can be done by any age or experience level. Embellishments like rhinestones and studs also make a brighter shine.
Foam Picture Frame
Flat sheets of any color can be cut into rectangle shapes with a cut out in the middle. Cut the middle section to size of any photo. Magnets or a hanging string attached to the back enables the foam picture frame to be hung or stuck to a metal surface, like a refrigerator. This project can be tackled by young or older kids, and those who have some experience with cutting and glue.
