Guide for an Electrician Aptitude Test

An electrician aptitude test is a common test in the electrical trade. You may have to take an aptitude test when applying to become an electrician for a certain company. Your state may also require you to take such a test if you are needing a license.

Test Preparation

It is best to study for the test several weeks before you take the test. There are several sample electrical aptitude tests online. Try to do several of them and determine areas where you have deficiencies. Find study guides that can help you; there are several excellent ones on the market that you can use. Ensure that you have a recent study guide. If your book is more than five years old, you probably need a newer edition.

Take an Online Course

There are several organizations that offer an online test preparation course. Although most of these are not free, consider it an investment to spend some money on a course such as this. You could save money by not taking one, but if you have to retake the test because you failed, was the savings worth it?

Talk With Experienced Electricians

Speak with those who have taken the test before. Ask for their advice and input. Often, the advice of someone who has previously taken the test will be more helpful than anything that you will get out of a book.

Taking the Test

Get a good night of rest before taking the test. You will need to be refreshed an alert on test day. Do not bring any study helps or paper with you to the test-taking facility. All you will need is a form of photo identification.
