Guide on Golf Equipment
Golf is a recreational sport with varying degrees of difficulty, and is characterized by striking a
small ball using customized clubs a certain distance into a small hole. This is meant to be accomplished using the least amount of strokes. As golf increases in popularity, players must learn how to properly use the equipment that is needed. A guide on golf equipment will outline essential tools one must have in order to play the game.
Golf Ball
Due to the variety of golf balls available to consumers, one may have a tough time choosing the right kind of ball. There are two different categories of golf balls: recreational and advanced. Recreational golf balls are geared toward the casual golfer who has a lower swing-speed and may not be the most accurate putter. Recreational golf balls are made of two layers with the top layer being firmer than its core; these balls are usually lower in price. Advanced golf balls are made of three or more layers and have a softer outer layer than its core; these golf balls require a greater swing-speed and overall physical strength of a player to increase accuracy.
Clubs
The three major types of clubs are woods, putters and irons. Woods are used for playing long distance shots from the fairway or rough areas off of the green. Irons are used for making lengthy precision shots; a wedge is an iron club that is used to play difficult ground such as sand bunkers. Putters are used for playing on the green and keeping the ball aligned and on the ground when putting. A golfer carries several clubs while playing golf, however no more than 14 by rule are permitted.
Tee
A tee is a wooden or plastic object inserted into the ground used to position the golf ball for a better shot; this is only permitted for the first drive of each hole. A tee resembles a nail with a round, flat head at the top. Most tees are relatively inexpensive and vary in length according to player preference.
Golf Bag
Golf bags usually have a plastic frame and are often made of leather or nylon. Golf bags contain pockets and compartments to place golf equipment needed during a round of golf. Golf bags come with a shoulder or hand-strap for carrying and many feature a kickstand leg for upright positioning.
Ball Marker
A ball marker is a round object that can be used to mark the location of a golf ball. There are circumstances where a player may need to pick up a golf ball to clean it, or to clear a pathway for another player. A ball marker is used is these instances to mark their last position of the golf ball.
