Holistic Approach to Treating Acne
Treating acne holistically is a better option than over the counter medicine for many people. Instead of spending a lot of money on products that may dry out your skin and cause further problems, holistic treatments don't tend to be as harsh or expensive.
Holistic acne treatments can work if you use the right ones. There are plenty of methods to treat acne at home without harsh medications.
Using Rosemary
- Look for a face wash that uses rosemary as a main ingredient. Rosemary is a natural antiseptic and has been used to heal minor infections for centuries. When you wash your face with a cleanser that contains rosemary you're getting the antiseptic benefit. It will help reduce swelling caused from acne and remove the bacterium that causes it.
Add Carrots to Your Diet
- Adding carrots to your diet will give you an extra boost of vitamin A. Vitamin A will help make the protective tissue in the skin stronger. This will reduce the amount of oil and sebum your skin produces. Some studies have shown that carrots may help eliminate toxins from your body as well. All of these elements will add up to clearer skin with time.
Get Plenty of Zinc
- Zinc is another great holistic substance that can benefit your skin. Zinc is also known for its antibacterial qualities. The glands in your skin that produce oil need zinc to stay healthy. If you keep zinc as a part of your diet, the oil glands won't work as hard to produce what it needs and you'll enjoy clearer skin as a result.
Make Your Own Skincare Mask
- If you have had a breakout and want to get rid of it quickly, you can make your own mask at home. Take 2 eggs and separate the whites. Add a few teaspoons of honey and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice to the egg whites. Blend in a cup of strawberries and puree the mix. Spread this on your face and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes then rinse it away. The strawberries and lemon juice will help kill the bacterium that causes acne while the egg whites and honey will draw out impurities from the pores.
