How Does a Vintage Store Get Their Clothes?
There are quite a number of vintage stores set up around most cities. These locations carry all types of items from clothing to household items. These stores depend upon people donating items for their store, as well as shopping at flea markets, online auction sites and other locations for their merchandise.
Donations
Most vintage stores are pretty much like thrift stores. They accept items that are dated 50 years back and less in their store. These items are checked over, priced and then put on the floor to sale to their customers. Stores that have been approved by the state to do so, may be able to give the people donating the merchandise a tax donation receipt.
Auction Sites
Vintage store owners do a lot of their shopping on the Internet. Many auction sites have a lot of vintage items that people are willing to depart with for the right price. Vintage store owners make these purchases and then put them in their store to sale. Most often the store owner will want to make their money back and a little extra on the product when putting it in their store.
Flea Markets
There are usually people right in the neighborhood that have several vintage items. Store owners will shop the flea market malls looking for special items to fill their store up. They will usually get a good deal on the items if the person selling the items does not know what their intentions are. Most people selling items at the flea market want to make a profit themselves.
Garage and Yard Sales
Many store owners may have someone else working in their stores on the weekend, while they are out looking for vintage items to bring back and sell in their store. This may mean they have to get up on early Friday and Saturday mornings off looking for garage and yard sales in their area. Some do their research about yard sales in their area and the products they will be selling before wasting any time going to them. Most often store owners can bring back quality vintage items to sell.
