Media is all around us. It affects our culture in many different ways. For some people, their televisions are on twenty-four hours a day watching the news and updates that are available around the clock. There are television stations geared toward crime and actual court cases. Such television networks have cameras inside some of the most fascinating court cases in history.,

Certain types of media allow us to voice our opinions more easily on many different subjects. This ranges from politics to how different things are done. Sometimes the media is used to tell people what we think of what other people are doing. Media can be used to put a person on display publicly in either a positive or a negative light. Media items such as this can change how people think about a certain subject. This is something that happens all the time now. Our culture has changed so much with the overflow of media that sometimes people are torn on which way to think.  The media often will show many different views regarding the same subject.  The convergence of media has many effects on society, as we know it today. Media can sometimes interrupt a person’s private life and then put things out for people to see that are not true. These types of things can have a very damaging effect on someone and their life. On the other side of this, media can also help build a reputation such as a clothing designer who has put a new fashion line out. People wear the outfits and the media displays the pictures of a person wearing them. The clothing designer can get positive review and in this regard, the media helps to change culture by updating styles of clothing.

One of the most positive things that media does in our culture today is to make us aware of very important subjects. There are special summer camps for children with cancer. The news coverage or radio station coverage of stories of these important camps helps to raise awareness of their needs. These types of media coverage also help get the word out to people so that they can gain donations to keep these important camps running. Loosing a pet or a missing child can also be brought to the media to make the public aware of either of these important things. An amber alert can quickly spread across TV screens all over America thus alerting millions of the people through the media that a child is missing and needs to be found. This type of news story can help because it gets people out and volunteering to find the child. Our culture today is so used to information from the media like this that they know to expect something different from the media daily.
