An art salon is an old idea going back centuries. The purpose of an art salon is for artists to get together and share their ideas. A modern art salon may be for sharing ideas, networking or showcasing the work of local artists.

Make sure you make the theme clear when sending out the invitations. If the art salon is to work on unfinished projects, then you want to be sure that everyone brings the appropriate supplies.


• Work the room. If you are the host, you cannot sit in a corner and quietly work on your project. Walk around the room and introduce yourself. Encourage conversation and networking. In order to host a good salon, the host should be outgoing and talkative.
