How Sell Your Car To Junkyards
There are different reasons for selling your car to the junkyard. Some people have old and wrecked cars sitting in their yard. Another reason is trying to get rid of a car that needs a major repair and no longer working. It really doesn't matter the reason for selling your car, but everyone could use a little extra money. Here are the steps for selling cars to junkyards.
- Gather the information for your car. Important information to know is model, year and make of the car. Take note of any car parts missing or not working.
- Contact local junkyards. Make a phone call and explain that you want to sell a car. Give a description of the vehicle. The person on the phone will probably ask questions about the car and you want to answer truthfully. Make sure you give truthful information to receive accurate quotes.
- Choose the junkyard that gives the highest quote for the car. If you receive a few close bids from different companies, then you can try negotiating a higher price. You want to ask about any surcharges or taxes taken out of the quote amount when selling the car.
- Transport the car to the location. If the car is still working, then you can drive it to the junkyard. Either have a friend drive behind you to the location or take a taxi back home. If the car is not working, then you can ask the junkyard management to tow the car. Another option is contracting a towing company to tow it to the junkyard.
- Transfer the title over to the new owner. You want to make sure that the transferring of the title goes through and will not cause any future issues with the sale of the car. After the vehicle is transferred to the new owner, you should request a receipt for the sale.
