How To Clean Car Chrome
Chrome is a soft metal used by carmakers to give shine to a vehicle’s accessories and trim. Keeping the chrome clean on a car is important to keep the car looking the best it can. There are a lot of products on the market that are made to clean car chrome. However, you just need some basic household products in order to clean chrome parts. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to keep the luster of the chrome.
Things you will need in order to clean chrome on a car include:
- White vinegar
- Car wash
- Bucket
- Soft towel
- Paper towels
- Get a water hose and rinse the chrome parts on the car with water to loosen up debris, dirt, and bugs.
- Get rid of rust with a fine grade of steel wool. Be sure the steel wool has a “0000” grading so you won’t get scratches on the chrome.
- Get a cap full of car washing soap and pour it into a washing bucket. Be sure to fill the rest of the bucket up with water. In order to give added shine to the chrome, add two caps of white vinegar to the bucket.
- Put a large sponge in the bucket of car wash and water mix. Grab the sponge and clean the chrome parts on the car. Be sure the dirt, debris, and scuffs are removed.
- Rinse off all the soap from the chrome parts and do the rinsing and washing process again to make sure the chrome is completely clean.
- Make sure the chrome is completely dry. Take a soft, dry towel after the second rinse to dry the water off the chrome. In order to prevent rust and water spots from forming, wipe the chrome parts with dry paper towels after you use the regular towel. Continue to use the paper towels until they don’t pick up the moisture from the chrome anymore. Once the chrome is dry, the car is ready to benefit from the immaculate look the chrome brings it.
