How To Clean Car Interiors
Cleaning the interior of your car isn't as hard as it may appear. Even if your car is really dirty, it won't take as long if you have the right tools and products. Many car care products and tools can be found in home improvement or automotive stores. Once you've thoroughly cleaned your car once, it's best to clean it regularly to avoid major cleanings again.
- Vacuum your carpet and seats with a high powered vacuum. You could purchase a vacuum, but a majority of gas stations and self serve car washes will provide a sufficient service. These vacuums will only cost a dollar or two to use. Make sure you vacuum underneath and between your seat and center console. This is where most dirt and debris builds up.
- Clean your windows with window cleaning spray and towels. They key to a streak free window is removing the window cleaner with a dry towel, lint-free towel.
- Spray an all purpose cleaner on your doors, dash and center console. Make sure to also spray inside your cup holders.
- Use a detail brush on spots that won't come clean with a basic wipe down. Cup holders and center console will probably need to be scrubbed.
- Wipe down all purpose cleaner with a towel that won't leave a film or lint behind. You should be able to find towels specific for interior car cleaning. Take time to wipe around your steering wheel and gauges below the dash. You shouldn't need to spray more cleaner, just use the same towel you’re already using. There will be enough on the towel to clean these areas.
- Finally, add a protectant cream to the areas you cleaned with the all purpose cleaners. This will also provide a nice shine and also protect your dash, doors and center console from cracking or color fading.
