How To Disassemble an Intex Pool

Intex pools provide hours of summer fun for everyone. However, when the swimming season ends and the weather starts to get colder, then an Intex pool should be carefully drained, disassembled and stored. Since these types of pools were not designed for freezing weather conditions, it is a good idea to take the pool down before the first freeze.

Supplies

  • Garden hose

  • Storage containers

  • Intex hose adapter

  • Baby powder

  • Shop vacuum

  • Rubber mallet

Drain the Pool

  1. Unscrew the cap on the drain valve on the pool's lower outer wall.

  2. Screw the Intex hose adapter in the female end of your garden hose.

  3. Lay the hose so it drains away from the house.

  4. Twist the hose adapter into the drain valve. As the adapter is put into the valve, the plug in the pool will be pushed out to begin flowing water through the hose.

  5. Use a shop vacuum to siphon any remaining water on the pool's floor.

  6. Remove the hose clamps from the pump inlet and outlet hoses. Pull the hoses off when loosened.

Dissemble the Sides

  1. Remove the leg pipes from the tri-connectors around the pool. To do this, squeeze the buttons on each side of the pipe and pull the pieces out.

  2. Now use a small rubber mallet to remove the pin lock pieces around the top of the pole. Carefully tap each pin out and lay aside.

  3. Pull the tri-connection piece off of the pipes. Continue this procedure around the entire pool perimeter until all the pipe connectors have been removed.

  4. Pull each of the long pipes from the top pool pocket.

  5. Leave flattened liner outside in the sun for at least 24 hours to air dry.

  6. Store all of the pool componets in container after drying.

  7. Lay the pool flat and fold each side into the center to form a square.

  8. Dust the pool with talcum powder to prevent the liner from sticking to itself.

  9. Fold in half again into a rectangle.

  10. Fold one more time into a tri-fold.

  11. Place the pool in an air tight storage container.
