How To Disperse Chlorine Tablets in an Intex Pool

A beautiful, crystal clear swimming pool is inviting on a hot summer day. And in order to keep it ready for swimming, the water quality must be properly maintained. Sanitizing an Intex pool is one of the primary steps in pool upkeep. The quality of water determines the health of your pool, as well as the comfort of the swimmers.

Chlorine tablets can be dispensed one of two ways in an Intex pool. Here's how to do it.

Supplies

  • Bucket

  • Pool Brush

  • Floating Chlorinator

  • Respirator

  • Stir

Bucket Method

  1. Determine the number of gallons your pool holds. Refer to owner's manual for any help.

  2. Put on your respirator.

  3. Fill the bucket about 75 percent with water.

  4. Drop the chlorine tablet into the bucket.

  5. Allow the chlorine tablets to dissolve. Stir the water to make sure all the chlorine has liquifed.

  6. Walk around the perimeter of the pool pouring the bucket contents into the pool.  It is a good idea to disperse the chlorine evenly around the pool to prevent bleaching or damage.

  7. If a clump of chlorine is found use the pool brush to sweep it away and help dissolve.

  8. Plug in the pump and circulate the chlorinated water.

Floating Chlorinator

  1. Purchase a floating chlorinator from a pool retailer.

  2. Open the lid and place either a three inch or a one inch chlorine tablet inside.

  3. Close and lock the chlorinator's lid. Turn the bottom dial to the desired dispersion level.

  4. Place the chlorinator into the Intex pool.

  5. Check the chlorinator periodically to make sure it doesn't become trapped.
