How To Get Rid of Spots on Car Paint

Nothing can be more frustrating than looking at your freshly-cleaned car and realizing that spots have formed on the paint. Although there are several things you can do to prevent the spots in the first place, you must remove the spots before these methods will be fully effective. Always inspect your car in full sunlight after cleaning it to make sure that you caught all of the dirt and spots.

  1. Wipe down the car with a soft cloth to remove any surface dust or dirt. Trying to clean the car with dust and dirt in the way can lead to scratches in your paint.

  2. Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a large bucket.

  3. Use a sponge or a soft cloth to gently wipe the vinegar and water solution onto the car. Move the sponge or cloth in small circles and pay particular attention to any areas that are heavily spotted. Work in small sections to avoid adding more spots to the car.

  4. Dry each area thoroughly with a soft cloth as you finish wiping with the vinegar and water.

  5. Wax your car. The wax protects your car's paint and lets water slide easily away from the paint before spots can form.
